That Place

Hey-

Do you remember when we found that place?
When we swam in the ocean, deep in the ocean-
Far, far away from.. well, anywhere..
Anyone.. anything..
It was so beautiful.

We soared through the ocean,
Embracing the bubbles,
The waves,
And the faint lights beneath the deep-

We travelled throughout,
As graceful as whalesong,
Like the waves,
And the faint lights beneath the deep-

And for no reason, we swam upwards-
We soared as high, and as high we could,
Following naught but that voice-
The voice deep in the soul-
The very same that called us to be,
And to be you and I--

And all of a sudden-

The sound of the bubbles, the waves and the lights,
The sound of the water as darkened as night,
The song of the ocean and all of its might

Stopped.

And there was naught but the
Purity of the stars and moon
Illuminating the subtle sound
Of the travelling waves of the surface,

And you and I,
You and I-

It wasn't cold, but we still held as though we were trying to keep warm.

Gazing at the moonlit ocean, you said that you should have brought your camera-
That made me smile.. but neither film nor brush could have captured the scene
In the reflection of your eyes-

It was flawless, like you.

So flawless.

Although, I neglected to point that out-
I tend to do that- it's something I've tried to remedy.

We still don't know where it was- that place-
I told you it was like when you close your
Eyes and turn your head so that you're looking
At everything upside-down- then when you open
Your eyes, it's like you've been taken to another
World. It was like that. We just forgot about the
Notion of oceans and land and other
Givens we were fed at school- there's no knowing
Whether any of it's true, and.. it just didn't matter..
Not there.

We said that it must surely be the place
Where the stars hide from the daylight,
And where the deities go to watch the skies.

It was so beautiful.

You remember it?

..

Of course, she was asleep at this point,
Which made me smile, slightly at my own silliness,
But more so because I knew that behind her closed eyes,
There lay an ocean filled with a song of perfection,
And that somewhere in there,
She was smiling too.

We totally need that abstract section :) (Smile)
Wrote this a few days back.. and I still like it, which is an achievement, goin' by m'poetry of late :j

I re-used a line or two from Slow lights beneath the deep, and the overall poem turned out freakishly similar to it by the time I was finished.. in many ways that are more obvious in m'head, to me.. ness.. which wasn't my intention at all.. but meh.. no harm, I reckon..

:) (Smile)
